BYD Australia released the price and configuration information for its new 2026 Sealion 8 large SUV series today.
This plug-in hybrid model will be available in three vehicle levels in Australia:
- Dynamic FWD (two wheel drive version): The pure electric range is 103km.
- Dynamic AWD (four-wheel drive version): With the addition of a rear motor and a larger battery, the pure electric range is 152km.
- Premium AWD (four-wheel drive top of the line version): The powertrain and range are the same as Dynamic AWD, but the configuration is more luxurious.

In terms of price, the top of the line Sealion 8 Premium AWD is priced at $70990 (excluding tolls), which is comparable to the mid-range Toyota Kluger GXL hybrid four-wheel drive version (starting price $71930, excluding tolls).
The pricing of the 2026 BYD Sealion 8 series in Australia is as follows (the following is the official direct driving price in Australian dollars):
- 2026 BYD Dynamic FWD – $60,774(NSW)or $60,803(VIC)
- 2026 BYD Dynamic AWD – $68,123(NSW)or $67,652(VIC)
- 2026 BYD Premium AWD – $75,473(NSW)or $74,946(VIC)

Power and chassis
All models in the series are equipped with a 1.5-liter four cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine, with a maximum power of 110kW and peak torque of 220Nm, and matched with a front electric motor with an output power of 200kW/315Nm.
- The Dynamic AWD and Premium AWD models have added an electric motor on the rear axle with a parameter of 200kW/360Nm.
- FWD version: The system has a comprehensive output power of 205kW and a torque of 315Nm.
- AWD version: The system has a comprehensive output power of 359kW and a torque of 675Nm.
The differences in transmission and chassis also include:
Two wheel drive version: equipped with 20 inch wheels and Hankook tires, FSD frequency selective damping shock absorbers, and four driving modes (economy, standard, sport, snow).
Four wheel drive version: equipped with 21 inch wheels and Goodyear tires, adaptive damping and shock absorption control, added mud and sand driving modes, and front and rear perforated brake discs.

Battery, charging, and fuel consumption
- Battery capacity: Dynamic FWD is equipped with a 19.0kWh battery; The AWD model is equipped with a larger 35.6kWh battery.
- Charging speed: The maximum power of the two wheel drive DC fast charging version is 40kW; the maximum power of the four-wheel drive version can reach 74kW. The peak speed of AC charging for the entire series is 11kW.
- Fuel consumption performance:Two wheel drive version: comprehensive fuel consumption of 1.1L/100km when fully charged; Fuel consumption is 5.3L/100km in a low power state (with less than 25% battery capacity).
- 4WD version: Comprehensive fuel consumption of 1.0L/100km when fully charged; Fuel consumption is 6.3L/100km in a low power state (with less than 25% battery capacity).

Interior and configuration
The standard list for all three levels in the series includes a 15.6-inch infotainment system (supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), FM/AM/DAB radio, 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, 50W wireless charging, full LED headlights and taillights, panoramic sunroof with electric sunshade, and electric tailgate.
All levels also include electrically adjustable front seats with heating and ventilation functions, as well as four-way manually adjustable second row seats.

The Dynamic level is equipped with faux leather seats, a 10 speaker audio system, and an electric folding rearview mirror.
The Premium level has been further upgraded to include leather seats, 21 speaker sound system, external rearview mirror memory and reverse flip function, as well as 26 inch HUD head up display, heated steering wheel, front seat memory and massage, heated and ventilated second row seats (outer side), and multi-color interior ambient lighting.

Vehicle color and size
The Sealion 8 offers Aurora White (free), optional Ridge Grey, Cosmos Black, and Dark Aquamarine for an additional fee of $1500 AUD.

In terms of size, the Sealion 8 has a length of 5040mm, a width of 1996mm, a height of 1760mm, and a wheelbase of 2950mm, placing it at the larger end of the Australian large SUV class. It is 74mm longer than the Toyota Kluger, but 20mm shorter than the new Hyundai Palisade. Its 2950mm wheelbase is also 20mm shorter than the Palisade, but higher than the Kluger's 2850mm wheelbase. All models in the series adopt a 2+3+2 seven seat layout and black interior.
